One

The book “One” is a book about stand up written and illustrated by Kathryn Otoshi. In the story, Red is very mean to Blue and it always pick on Blue, no one said stop to Red, and every time red said mean things to Blue it will become bigger and bigger, red became very big that every colour is afraid of it. One day, 1 shows up and it makes everyone smile and laugh, Red is mad, it told everyone to stop laughing, and they did, except for 1, 1 said no, so Red rolled away. One told everyone they can stand up and say no, so they did, every colour became a number and they said no to Red, as everyone said no to Red, Red became smaller and smaller. Red rolled away, but 1 said Red can count too, so Red became a number and join everyone. It think the book is made for kids at grade 2-4 to teach them how to say no, and my favorite part of the book is the sentence on the last page “Sometimes it just takes One”… I think this book was really good.

Two

The book 2 is written by Kathryn Otoshi. Two is best friends with One. Whenever they’d get the chance, they’d dance! She’d sing and snap. He’d tappity-tap. What a pair they made! At the end of each day, they’d always say, “ONE, TWO, I’ll count on you, ’til the end, we’ll be best friends.” Until Three jumps in between them . . . Suddenly One only wants to play with Three. “ONE, THREE, odds we’ll be!” they chant. Two feels left out. But what can she do? Another character-building counting book by award-winning author Kathryn Otoshi, Two is a powerful story of friendship, loss, letting go, and self-discovery.

Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress

This story is written by Christine Baldachinno and illustrated by Isabelle Malenfont. Theme of this book is a stand up for your self. The author tells us that Morris loves school and I believed it. I absolutely felt his pain when he stayed home because of teasing. My favourite lines are:”Morris likes the color of the dress. It reminds him of tigers, the sun and his mother’s hair.”Did you get chills reading that!?The issue of gender roles and gender identity  is dealt with in a way that all children can relate to. It shouldn’t matter if astronauts wear dresses. Boys or girls. It is a story about being different. It is also a great resource for families looking to expand their diverse book collection.

What Do You With An Idea

Today in class we read this book called “What Do You Do With An Idea” This book is written By Kobi Yamada and illustrated by  Mae Besom. There is no age capacity for this book. This book about a kid finding and idea but can’t telling it to anyone. Some people said it was not good, a waste of time and nothing would come of it. After that he thought to himself and said that maybe it was true but then he realized only he knew his idea best so it was still good to him. The main idea of this book is when find and idea just tell it no one will say this idea is bad if it is good. My thoughts about this boo it is a wonderful picture book and the book is good for everyone that has an idea.  And this picture book is one of the best picture book that we read in class.
